Almond oil, extracted from the pressed seeds of the sweet almond tree (*Prunus dulcis*), is a mild and nutritious oil that has been used for thousands of years for its health and beauty benefits. The oil is rich in vitamin E, omega fatty acids, magnesium and antioxidants, making it a versatile and popular ingredient in skin and hair care.
Uses for almond oil:
1. Skin care:
Moisturizing and softening:** Almond oil is light and quickly absorbed, making it perfect for moisturizing dry and irritated skin. It is particularly effective in soothing and softening dry areas, such as hands, elbows and feet, without leaving a greasy feel
For sensitive skin: Thanks to its mild properties, almond oil is often used on sensitive skin and is also suitable for baby care, for example to relieve diaper rash and dry skin in young children.
Anti-aging: The oil's high content of vitamin E and antioxidants helps fight free radicals, making it a natural choice for improving skin elasticity and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- **Skin Irritation Relief:** Almond oil is also known to relieve eczema, psoriasis, and other skin irritations. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe redness, itching, and swelling.
2. Hair care:
Hair and Scalp Moisturizing: Almond oil helps moisturize dry and brittle hair and a dry scalp. By massaging the oil into your scalp, you can reduce dandruff and improve the overall health of your hair.
Stimulate hair growth: The oil can promote hair growth by improving blood circulation in the scalp and strengthening hair follicles. Regular use can make hair shinier and stronger.
- Treatment of split ends:*Almond oil is often used to treat split ends and give hair a smoother and silkier texture.
3. Massage and relaxation:
- Almond oil is an excellent carrier oil for massage and is often blended with essential oils to create a soothing and nourishing massage oil. Its lightness and high nutritional value make it perfect for softening the skin while promoting relaxation and well-being.
- Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it can be used to relieve muscle pain and stiffness when massaged into the skin.
4. Nail care:
- Almond oil is also used to strengthen nails and moisturize dry cuticles. It helps prevent brittle nails and can contribute to healthy nail growth by nourishing the nail plate and cuticles.
5. Facial cleansing:
- Due to its lightweight and non-comedogenic nature (does not clog pores), almond oil is often used as a natural makeup remover or facial cleanser. It dissolves dirt, makeup, and excess oil without irritating the skin.

The origin of almond oil: The almond tree blooms profusely with beautiful white or red flowers. It can grow up to seven meters tall, and comes in several different varieties. The two most common are the sweet almond tree Prunus amygdalus var dulcis, from which almond oil comes, and the bitter almond tree Prunus amygdalus var amara, from which true bitter almond oil can be extracted (a volatile, essential oil). The sweet almond tree originated in Asia, but is now cultivated mainly around the Mediterranean and in California – but also in China, Japan and Australia.
The fruit of the tree is a so-called stone fruit with a tough and hairy outer shell. Inside the outer shell is a hairy shell, and inside you will find the seed itself – the sweet almond. The almond consists of almost 50% oil, which is either extracted by cold pressing or hot pressing and extraction.
Crearome's cold-pressed Almond Oil has a scent and taste and is more expensive. The hot-pressed/extracted is a cheaper variant, with the scent and taste removed. Almond oil is semi-fatty and sustainable, and consists mostly of the monounsaturated fatty acid oleic acid. It also has a content of unsaponifiables of 0.5-1% (sterols and vitamin E).
